In summer, our feet are out and about: sandals, flip-flops, espadrilles... they no longer go unnoticed! But after months of hiding under socks and boots, they're not always ready to show themselves. Damaged nails, cracked heels, calluses... these are just some of the neglects that can slow us down when it's time to slip on open-toe shoes. Fortunately, it's never too late to do the right thing: with a natural, targeted routine, your feet can regain their softness and radiance in just a few days.
Here's a natural, effective routine for soft, clean, well-moisturized feet, ready to face summer in style.
1. Relaxation and nourishing footbath
The first essential step is the foot bath. It's not just about relaxing, it's also about softening the skin, relaxing the muscles and preparing the feet for treatment. Soak for around 20 minutes in lukewarm water (35-37°C).
To maximize the benefits, add :
Three vegetable oils with nourishing properties
-
Huile d’olive bio : riche en acides gras et en antioxydants, elle hydrate en profondeur et apaise les peaux sèches.
-
Sweet almond oil Perfect for sensitive skin, it softens and prevents tightness.
-
Calendula oil With its soothing and repairing properties, it is ideal for irritated or damaged feet.
Three soothing or toning floral extracts
-
Dried lavender flowers or lavender hydrosol A natural relaxant, ideal after a day on your feet or out walking.
-
Rose hydrosol Toning and softening, for fresh, delicately scented skin.
-
Fleurs de camomille ou hydrolat : calmant et anti-inflammatoire, parfait pour les pieds fatigués ou échauffés.
Once your feet are thoroughly soaked and relaxed, dry them gently with a towel, insisting between the toes to avoid maceration.
2. Say goodbye to calluses
This is a good time to take care of areas of thickened skin, especially under the heels. Use a natural pumice stone, a soft rasp or a foot file. Work with care, especially if you have thin or sensitive skin. Excessive sanding can aggravate cracks or sensitize the skin.
3. Gentle scrub
Once calluses have been reduced, it's time to gently exfoliate to remove any remaining dead cells. You can use a commercial scrub or make your own 100% natural homemade scrub:
Express recipe
1 tablespoon fine salt or brown sugar.
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (sweet almond or olive).
A few drops oftrue lavender essential oil (optional).

Natural vacation tip: beach sand is a free, natural mineral exfoliant. By walking barefoot on wet or dry sand, you naturally exfoliate the skin without any aggression.
4. Clean, well-trimmed nails
Use clean, disinfected scissors or nail clippers. Cut nails straight to avoid ingrowths, then file gently. Push back cuticles with a wooden stick after softening them with a little oil or after bathing.
5. A natural... varnish
Are you hesitating to paint your nails? You should know that today there are nail polish natural much more respectful of your nails and the environment. They are often formulated without toluene, formaldehyde, synthetic camphor or phthalates. Choose those with bio-sourced ingredients.
If you prefer a natural look, simply file your nails and apply a nourishing oil (such as castor oil) to strengthen them and make them shine naturally.
6. Deep moisturizing with shea butter
The key to beautiful skin: hydration! After all these treatments, generously apply a shea butter pure or enriched with essential oils (lavender or tea tree). Rich in vitamins A, D, E and F, shea butter is ideal for regenerating, nourishing and protecting the skin of even very dry feet.
For optimum hydration, apply a thick layer in the evening, then slip on cotton socks for the night. When you wake up, your feet will be ultra-soft.
Adopt these simple, natural gestures, and your feet will thank you!
