Ceylon cinnamon essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves of the cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum zeylanicum), a tree native to Asia that is now cultivated primarily in Sri Lanka, Madagascar, and the Seychelles. Directions for use
- Food dosage: 1 drop in a dish for 5 people (never exceed 2%).
- Always use the essential oil diluted in a suitable carrier (e.g., honey, vegetable oil...).
- Soluble in alcohol, fats (vegetable oils and butters), and emulsions (creams).
- Insoluble in water. However, it can be used in these types of products when pre-mixed with a solubilizer (in this case, use 4 times more solubilizer than essential oil).
Precautions for Use
Always use the essential oil diluted to a maximum of 20% in a vegetable oil or another suitable carrier. Ceylon cinnamon essential oil is dermocaustic; it can cause an allergic reaction and is irritating to the skin and mucous membranes. For this reason, it must never be used undiluted but always diluted in a vegetable oil.
Do not use on pregnant or breastfeeding women, children under 12 years of age, or individuals with epilepsy, asthma, or allergies to any of its components.
