Ghassoul, this earth from North Africa in your hair routine
In Morocco and Tunisia (called tfal), the ghassoul is part of the essentials of the hammam. In these countries, ghassoul is sold in its natural state in powder or crushed and the recipes are transmitted from mother to daughter. It is commonly mixed with orange blossom water, rose water, argan oil etc...
Ghassoul is also offered as a wedding gift to the bride along with henna and milk.
Finally, it is also used orally to relieve gastric acidity in pregnant women.
To care for your hair naturally:
Mix 3 to 6 tablespoons of ghassoul powder with hot water.
Stir well until a smooth paste is obtained.
If necessary, add hydrolate or 1 to 2 drops of an essential oil or serum or a few drops of vegetable oil for a mask.
Apply the mixture to your wet hair, massaging it into your scalp and making sure that each of your strands is soaked in it.
Leave on for 2 to 3 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with hot water.
Gently towel dry your hair and air dry as often as possible to limit the damage caused by the hair dryer.
Tip: It is recommended to avoid any metal utensils when preparing masks, poultices and other pastes as the transfer of ions would alter the properties of the clay. Prefer glass or wood.
Clay absorbs impurities. Once used, do not reuse it!
Beware... Clay tends to build up in the pipes. At best, try to run enough hot water to flush it out or, at best, remove and/or dispose of the excess in the trash or in the garden.
Henna to color and/or condition your hair
The henna is a vegetable and mineral powder that colors the hair (and skin). Its application is simple but it is important to follow certain steps.
Before staining.
Wash your hair thoroughly to rid it of all residues of styling products and sebum with khadi shampoo. With commercial shampoos, your hair fiber is coated with silicone to give it strength, hold and shine. Unfortunately, the silicone prevents the pigments from perfectly impregnating the hair.
Coloration
Depending on the shade chosen and the desired effect, leave on for 30 minutes to 2 hours maximum. For darker shades, pre-coloring may be necessary with some henna products so that the pigments adhere perfectly to the hair fiber.
After Staining
Enhance and fix your hair color with hair oils.
Beware... Before any application, it is advisable to test on a strand to check if the desired effect is what you are looking for. In addition, it is not exempt from declaring an allergy, even with natural products. Proceed in this case to a test in the hollow of the elbow (or any other zone little visible) with diluted dye and wait 48h if there is no itching or irritation.
Kinky hair, proper care for a perfect curl
The fats help to soften and deeply nourish the frizzy hair fiber as well as regulate sebum production on the scalp .
Castor oil is extremely viscous but oh so nourishing. It also has the property of promoting growth and d'prevent hair loss. For this, make sure to massage the scalp well. To facilitate its application, it is advisable to dilute it with other oils.
Shea butter and coconut oil are solid at room temperature. You can heat them between your hands before applying them directly (in the morning or after shampooing, for example) or melt them in a double boiler to mix them with other ingredients, including aloe vera gel.
Homemade tip: cider vinegar for shiny, silky, fortified hair
The following preparation is to be used every 4 shampoos. Be careful not to apply it too frequently because the expected effects will not be achieved, or even worse, the opposite may happen, making the hair dry and brittle.
In a large bottle of mineral water, add 3 tablespoons of cider vinegar.
Pour over your hair when you have finished your shampoos and conditioners (organic).
Massage the scalp to activate blood circulation and spread the cider vinegar all over your head.
Do not rinse or rinse with very cold water. Don't worry, the smell of vinegar evaporates as it dries. Otherwise, if you feel uncomfortable, you can add a few drops of essential oil of your choice to perfume your preparation.
Tip: The spray bottle is also great for diffusing your mixture evenly.
