Lemon: a purifying and cleansing essential oil
Native to India and now grown in the Mediterranean and California, lemon (Citrus limon) is a staple of aromatherapy. Its essential oil is obtained by cold pressing the fresh zest, which preserves all of its natural active ingredients. It releases a fresh, sparkling, and invigorating aroma, typical of citrus fruits, which instantly brings energy and clarity.
Rich in limonene and beta-pinene, organic lemon essential oil stimulates the natural defenses, tones the circulation, and supports digestive and hepatic functions. It promotes liver drainage, helps dispel mental fatigue, and clears the mind. It is also known for its cleansing and purifying effects, useful for disinfecting the ambient air and neutralizing unpleasant odors.
On an emotional level, its sunny scent energizes the mind, revives good humor, and helps combat mental fatigue.
Recommendations for use
Diffusion: a few drops in a diffuser to purify the air and stimulate vitality.
Massage (diluted): 2 drops in a teaspoon of vegetable oil on the abdomen to aid digestion or circulation.
Home tip: add 10 drops to your cleaning water to naturally sanitize surfaces.
Positive atmosphere: for an invigorating and balancing atmosphere, diffuse 20 drops of lemon essential oil, 10 drops of sweet orange, 15 drops of rosewood, and 5 drops of Scots pine.
Precautions for use
- Not suitable for pregnant women during the first 3 months of pregnancy or for children under 3 years of age.
- Risk of irritation when used undiluted; always use diluted in accordance with the recommended dosages.
- Photosensitizing essence, do not use before exposure to sunlight.
- Prefer respiratory and oral routes to cutaneous routes.
- Potentially blood-thinning, do not use orally in cases of coagulation disorders or anticoagulant treatment.
- Risk of allergy (limonene): be careful not to overdose in mixtures. A patch test on the inner elbow is recommended prior to any skin application (at least 48 hours before use).
- Avoid contact with the eyes.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Store away from heat and light.
