Thanks to its gentleness, safety, and strong affinity for the ENT system, eucalyptus radiata essential oil is specifically used to combat upper respiratory tract conditions such as rhinitis, sinusitis, and otitis.
It is an excellent respiratory decongestant and expectorant, and its antiviral properties also make it a valuable ally in combating the flu and other viral infections.
It is a remedy of choice for diffusion into the air, either alone or in blends, and its excellent skin tolerance also allows for its use in rubs and massages, for both adults and children.
Its neurotonic properties are primarily directed toward mental function and promote mental alertness and memory.
Eucalyptus radiata, also known as Eucalyptus australiana or Eucalyptus officinalis, belongs to the large aromatic family of Myrtaceae and, due to its popularity, is often considered the king of eucalyptus.
This eucalyptus provides an essential oil that is well-tolerated and widely used in aromatherapy. Its essential oil contains monoterpenes, monoterpenols, and, most notably, 1,8-cineole; the latter is the predominant component but does not exceed 70%.
However, it may be helpful not to rely solely on a single treatment. For respiratory conditions, you can vary your treatment with essential oils from Eucalyptus globulus, Niaouli, or Wild Marjoram
On a psycho-emotional level, Rosemary cineole essential oil is very similar to it.This eucalyptus produces an essential oil that is well tolerated and widely used in aromatherapy. Directions for Use
Internal use: 1to 2 drops of essential oil in a small amount of honey, 3 times a day for respiratory conditions.
External
use: 2 to 4 drops of essential oil + 3 drops of virgin hazelnut oil on the throat, sinuses, chest, and back; on the skin condition; and around the ear, depending on the condition being treated.
Can also be used in a diffuser or for inhalation, either undiluted or blended with other essential oils.
Precautions
- Do not exceed the recommended daily dose (2 drops 3 times a day).
- Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women or children under 6 years of age without medical advice.
- Contraindicated for individuals with epilepsy or a history of seizures.
- Not recommended for people with asthma (when inhaled or diffused).
- Do not use essential oils containing cineole in individuals with asthma as a first-line treatment without medical advice.
- Given its cineole content, there is a proven risk of drug interactions: do not administer orally without medical advice if currently undergoing medication treatment.
- Always prioritize topical application or inhalation.
- Do not use for more than two weeks.
- Risk of allergy (limonene): take care not to use excessive amounts in blends. A patch test on the inner elbow is recommended prior to any topical application (at least 48 hours before use).
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Avoid contact with the eyes.
- Store away from heat and light.
