Good nutrition during pregnancy

Being pregnant, what a life experience! Especially when it's a first child and the parents don't really know what to expect. When a mother-to-be is pregnant with her first child, it is with a lot of anxiety and stress that she goes to her doctor and gynecologist with a mountain of questions in her head. From the most subtle to the simplest, all of these questions need to be answered in order to soothe the emotions but also to allow the parents to move forward serenely on the path of the wonderful adventure that is pregnancy. In fact, by meeting the parents' expectations, we can establish a balance and harmony of life much healthier for the mother but also, and especially, for the child.

Generally, while waiting for baby, we wish the best for him and his growth. Also, we will not hesitate to adopt a healthy lifestyle and make some changes to restore the gaps that we can make in life. It is not uncommon to find mothers who quit smoking or drinking when they find out they are pregnant. This is a normal and natural process that allows us, the mothers, to take care of our children when they are not even born yet.

Unless she is at risk for CMV, namely cytomegalovirus, the pregnant woman can potentially eat anything. Nevertheless, having a healthy diet is really recommended.

Cytomegalovirus is contracted by only 1% of European pregnant women, while 40-80% lack the antibodies needed to fight the virus. However, the risk of transmission to the fetus is more or less 40%, hence the importance of being very careful to avoid fetal sequelae.

Concretely, to have a good dietary hygiene during pregnancy , what is it ?

At first, the mother will be advised to limit her consumption of refined sugars because for those who like to eat very sweet foods (cookies, candies, sweets, pastries, etc.), they will see their glycemic rhythm evolve rapidly. In order to avoid the appearance of any pregnancy diabetes, pregnant women should therefore be very careful not to add added sugars to their basic diet. Especially since there are sugars in a majority of foods (natural sugars of fruits for example)! We will eliminate and banish completely the false sugars namely the sweeteners of synthesis which disturb as well the glycemia as the nervous system of the mom, but also of the future baby.

Of course, we will give preference to quality organic fruits and vegetables that will fill the plate for a ration of at least 75%. Only raw fruits and vegetables cooked at low pressure (steamed or steamed) will allow mom and baby to get essential nutrients for good growth and health.

It's also a good source of fat! We forget the preconceived ideas that fat makes you fat, because it is not true. Indeed, by consuming the good fats we need for various physiological functions, we allow our body to function properly. Therefore, we will increase the consumption of omega 3 and decrease the consumption of saturated fats (cooked butter for example).

Proteins are also essential and it would be dangerous to do without them. If you are an omnivore, eat small fish, eggs, poultry, etc. several times a week. If you are a vegetarian, many vegetable sources are available to you, but don't forget to supplement with B12. The ideal would be to find various sources of protein on a daily basis without going overboard.

Because finally, what is a good diet when you are pregnant? To be able to eat a healthy diet of everything, while allowing for occasional deviations because we know that moms sometimes have cravings that it is important to listen to.
