Three must-have home remedies

Taking care of yourself with natural remedies is good, but when you can make them yourself, it's even better!
Today I'm giving you three simple, economical and effective recipes.

What are the three must-have home remedies?

1) How to make a black radish syrup in case of cough?

During the fall and winter, and unfortunately also in the spring, a nasty cough often invites itself into the house.

Whether it is oily or dry, it tires, disturbs sleep, and sometimes takes time to disappear.

The syrup that I propose to use in this case is particularly interesting because it requires few ingredients and works for both types of coughs.

The first version that I propose to you is especially indicated for fatty coughs.

These last ones are caused by bronchial tubes clogged with mucus and the cough which aims at evacuating this mucus.

It is not necessary to try to stop this type of cough because it is part of the process of cure implemented by the organization.

By coughing you evacuate not only the mucus but also the germs responsible for the infection.

The syrup of black radish, precisely, is not going to fight against the cough but to facilitate the expectoration. It is in this direction that the sulphur derivatives contained in the black radish will act.

To make your syrup you will need

  • Two medium-sized black radishes
  • Powdered sugar (ideally use a wholemeal sugar such as rapadura)
  • From a plate or a dish
  • From a small funnel
  • A tea strainer
  • An amber glass bottle
black radish

1. Start by rinsing the radishes well in clean water and cutting them into thin strips.

2. Place a layer of slices in your dish and cover with a layer of sugar.

3. Spread another layer of black radish on top, followed by another layer of sugar etc.

4. Finish with a layer of sugar.

5) Then, it is a question of patience because you will have to let macerate your preparation about ten hours so that the radish returns all its juice.

6. Once this time has passed, you will be able to transfer the syrup into your bottle using your funnel and your strainer (to filter).

7. For dry coughs, the procedure is the same, but you will add to your syrup (once it has been bottled) half a cup of mallow infusion (2 tablespoons of a mixture of flowers and leaves for 1 liter of water).

8. Your syrup will be a little more liquid, but the mallow infusion will soothe throat or bronchial irritations caused by dry coughs.

You can take 3 tablespoons of black radish syrup per day (7 days maximum).

It can be kept in a cool place for 3 to 4 weeks.

Black radish juice can be irritating to the stomach and stimulates the liver. It should be avoided in case of ulcer, gastritis, gallstones or liver disease.

2) How to make a universal pain relief balm?

We all suffer at one time or another from troublesome pains here or there.

To remedy this, here is a synergy ofessential oils to use in massage to relieve muscular or articular pains.

Mix in a bottle bought in pharmacy:

  1. Let this mixture stand for 24 hours.
  2. Next, I suggest you prepare a neutral base to incorporate your oil mixture.
  3. To do this, heat a glass container (previously sterilized) in a bain-marie in which you put a fat (beeswax), shea butter, coconut oil...).
  4. Do not heat above 60-70°C.
  5. Stir until the mixture is well blended, remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Next:

  • For one level teaspoon of neutral base, add 5 drops of the oil mixture
  • 5 drops of grapefruit seeds for conservation
  • and a little bit ofvegetable oil of your choice to make the balm more creamy (it is often necessary to make several tests to find the proportion which corresponds to the ideal texture).

To use this balm, apply it two to three times a day to the painful areas.

Warnings:

This synergy is contraindicated for children under 12 years and pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Always perform a test in the elbow crease before use.

If you have an allergic reaction, do not use this remedy.

3) How to make a sovereign mouthwash against minor ailments?

I don't like the antiseptic mouthwashes that are available in stores.

Unless I have to use them occasionally to solve a specific problem, I prefer to avoid them because they alter the mucous membranes and the oral flora.

In general, whether "homemade" or not, mouthwash is not used on a daily basis but in case of mouth ulcers, bleeding or swollen gums.

You will need three ingredients:

  • water,
  • des cloves et
  • liquid extract of white propolis, that's all!

With its antiseptic, antibacterial and anaesthetic properties, this mouthwash is ideal for the whole family.

Simply infuse for 15 to 20 minutes a few cloves in hot water.

Filter and let cool.

You can then add 20 drops of propolis liquid.

You can make this mouthwash three times a day after each brushing, it's very simple!

A tip: avoid salt or bicarbonate, including in mouthwash, because their abrasive side damages the enamel when they are used regularly.
