REIKI, an energy therapy for your well-being

Do you need to find inner peace, mental calm or general well-being? Reiki is a non-conventional holistic healing method that can help you recover emotional balance and reconnect your body and mind. In the next few lines, let's take a look together at its history, practice and benefits.

Reiki, its foundations and its evolution

Reiki is a Japanese energy technique by laying on of hands founded by Mikao USUI during a spiritual enlightenment in 1922. In 1923, he established a specialized clinic in Tokyo where he provided Reiki treatments and trained apprentices.

Reiki is composed of two words:

Rei means light, the divine part that is in every human being and Ki, the life energy. Reiki energy is the subtle union of the universal energy that flows through each of us and our own energy.

The 5 precepts that govern the morality of the practice:

  • No anger
  • No worries
  • Gratitude
  • "On kindness to oneself and to others
  • "Hard work".

Reiki has undergone evolution since its inception and some adaptations have been made to meet the American and European audiences. Numerous schools and currents have thus emerged, each in turn training numerous practitioners.

Become a Practitioner

Anyone can become a Reiki practitioner as long as they undergo an initiation by a Reiki master and do work on themselves for personal and spiritual development.

3 progressive levels make up the pathway:

  • During the first level, an initiation is given as well as a protocol for self-treatment. Meditation, reading and research tips are also offered.
  • It is in the 2nd level that the treatment on others is taught with the help of symbols from the Japanese tradition.
  • The 3rd one certifies the teachers.

Reiki rebalances energy voids and excesses in the body

Reiki treatments can provide emotional relief and overall well-being in conjunction with conventional guidance.

If you are feeling fatigued, emotionally challenged or certain pains, reiki is able to bring you improvement in your quality of life.

In addition, this energy practice can also address people on a personal and spiritual journey as it releases knots, opens pathways and connections to greater self-awareness.

The energy of Reiki works on the physical, emotional and mental well-being. It brings relaxation, reactivates the different energy centers commonly called chakra according to the Indian tradition, it rebalances the energy flow of the meridians according to the Chinese tradition. These chakrasand meridians resonate with different organs, which themselves are associated with emotions. For example, the liver is the seat of anger. By placing the hands over this area, the practitioner channels and restores the universal energy to diffuse it in the organ, rebalancing it energetically.

According to thesetraditional precepts, one cannot relieve the physical without relieving the mind and vice versa.

No need to believe in it, thereiki acts whatever your age, your culture, your beliefs etc... This technique can quite be practiced on children, animals and plants.

In practice

You are lying down while remaining dressed. Gentle ambient music to accompany the relaxation is played and the practitioner will place his or her hands a few inches above certain areas to be treated. He follows a protocol established or according to his feelings and this, according to your needs of the moment. The session lasts between 60 and 75 minutes.

It is quite possible that you fall asleep, that you feel unusual sensations (gurgling, desire to swallow, yawn, tingling, numbness, cold, heat ...) or nothing! It all depends on your degree of sensitivity. Sometimes emotions come up, memories resurface and tears flow. It's important to let them flow and not hold anything back. Keep in mind that this space is yours and that these are just locks that are jumping...

After the session, it is recommended to hydrate well to continue the work of elimination and to stay, if possible, quiet. Indeed, after a session, you may feel temporarily out of time, as if floating between here and elsewhere... It is important to note that sometimes, a few days after a session, you may experience a curative crisis (exaggeration of emotional or physical symptoms). Warn those around you and try to get some distance if it shows up!

Good to know

Some mutual insurance companies reimburse for Reiki sessions as a package deal.

If you feel the need and desire to work on your emotions, on psychosomatic injuries or on your personal and spiritual ddevelopment, Reiki can be an excellent counseling tool. The choice of the practitioner will be made according to word of mouth, your research, your knowledge but above all, according to your feelings because a practitioner may suit a relative but not your expectations.
