Tamanu oil : how to use this Tahitian oil ?

Tamanu oil is a great treasure of the island of Tahiti. It is nicknamed "oil of a thousand virtues" thanks to the various benefits it grants for health and well-being. This green gold of the Pacific is obtained from a tree called Ati. We can see it in the heart of Polynesia. This solution is used for different purposes. But how is it used?

Tahitian Tamanu oil : for what use ?

The traditional use of Tamanu oil is seen among tattoo artists. The latter use it to heal wounds left during tattooing. Thehealingand anti-inflammatory properties of this solution are amazing. Thus, this Tahitian oil is recommended for treating boo-boos on the skin, no matter how big or small. Healing and regeneration of the outer cells is very rapid.  

Focus on Tamanu oil

Tamanu oil comes from the fruit of a tropical tree called Ati or Tamanu. Tahitian tradition attributes sacred characteristics to this plant. It was said that this one has innumerable powers. In addition to Polynesia, Tamanu is found in the Asian and African continents. After harvesting the Ati fruit, the almonds are extracted and dried for 2 to 4 months. The pressure and the filtering allow to produce oil.

It is therefore a fruit almond oil. The Tahitians attributed a religious property to the tree named Tamanu. We can deduce that this attitude is due to the multiple virtues that this plant has. If its sacredness disappeared at the time of Christianity, the tree has always remained characteristic, because its fruit kept the properties of healer.

Although it was able to cure leprosy in 1930, the therapeutic virtue was rejected by the medical world. It was during the 1940s thatTamanu oil officially entered the world of medicine to treat wounds.

In its natural composition, Tamanu oil contains a large amount of neutral lipid, some glycolipid and a pinch of phospholipid. Otherwise, it includes therapeutic anti-inflammatory elements like calophyllin. It also has a triterpene content, vitamin E and essential oils.

The benefits of Tamanu oil

First, it is well specified thatTamanu oil is a very effective natural wound healer. This property is due to its ability to renew the tissues. It is therefore listed as a first aid remedy.

Along with this property, Tamanu oilpresents anti-inflammatory characteristics. It is thanks to xanthone, which is part of its constituent elements, that Tamanu oil can react to skin lesions.

Tamanu oil is for all that an antibacterial solution. It includes highly effective bactericidal agents such as canophyllol, friedeline and inophynone. It is proven that this Tahitian oil is very efficient compared to clinical antibiotics.

Tamanu oil also has analgesic properties. It is used for massage. In this context, it is able to regulate the problems of leprous neuritis, rheumatism, joint pain, sciatica and sprains.

Finally, Tamanu oil is a natural deodorant. It reduces body odor due to sweat or fungus on the feet.

Considering these numerous virtues, we can confirm that it is a unique product. It's only natural that Tamanu oilis nicknamed the oil of a thousand virtues. Its therapeutic properties are activated by internal and external properties. It can be used in application and also consumed.

Other properties of Tamanu oil

Tamanu oil is also used in the cosmetic world. Indeed, it has a very suitable aroma. When applied to the skin, it provides a smooth texture. Afterwards, it leaves no trace of oil application on the treated surfaces.

Some cosmetic preparations contain Tamanu oil. It is introduced in aromatherapy to participate in the protection against UVB. They are also added as an ingredient in moisturizers, makeup and hair care products.

Tamanu oil is also a blood thinner. Use it to treat parts of the body exposed to a skin problem of blood origin such as heavy legs and varicose veins.

We also recommend Tamanu oil for other skin care. It is often mixed with other medicinal oils to reduce the aggressive effects on the skin.

Precautions

Speaking of dosage, it all depends on your needs. There are pure oils and solutions diluted or mixed with other products. Consider your skin's ability to absorb it. In the extreme case, it is possible that it leaves irritation on the applied surface.

Pregnant women must also take a precaution. For no case should internal uses be avoided. This could have negative effects on the child.

The product is strictly to be kept out of reach of children.

In relation to quality, it is recommended to favor products of Tahitian origin. It is possible to encounter Tamanu oil from originating in another country such as India, Madagascar or Thailand. However, we cannot certify that these products are of the same quality. Note that there are counterfeits under the brand of Tamanu.
