Essential tips to boost your memory

Whether it is because of aging or simply because of temporary fatigue, we may find that our memory and concentration fail. At the end of the school year and during this difficult period of exams, students under stress and fatigue may experience attention problems such as a lack of concentration or a risk of memory failure. Implementing natural solutions to boost their resources is obviously possible.

The brain is a complex organ that needs a few things to progress properly. Contrary to what one may believe, helping him is not so complicated because his demand is not in fact very complex: water, lipids, carbohydrates, trace elements and mineral salts such as phosphorus or magnesium for example. Therefore, as a first step, adapting our diet is really the priority.

Dietary rules to follow

  1. Forget fast food and foods that are too fatty, too sweet and too salty: chips, candy, cookies and processed foods will become your enemies if you want to boost your memory. Empty your cupboards and banish prepared meals.
  2. Instead, focus on fresh, unprocessed, organic-quality fruits and vegetables and if possible raw in salads, smoothies or even juices made with an extractor with no added sugar. For example, consider making a fresh fruit salad with chia seeds and various nuts, topped with fresh lemon juice. It's also delicious.
  3. For your snacks, choose a handful of oilseeds (Brazil nuts, almonds, cashews, walnuts, etc.) or a square of dark chocolate with more than 70% cocoa, which will provide a useful dose of the magnesium needed during this period of optimal concentration.
  4. Replace sugary drinks such as sodas, processed juices or stimulants such as coffee or alcohol with water. Simply water that will hydrate your brain. Forget energy drinks that simply excite.

Complement yourself

  • Supplement yourself with omega 3 and vitamins and minerals for optimal brain function
  • A supplement adapted to your situation could also be considered. A dietary supplement containing Ginkgo Biloba is interesting because it activates the cerebral microcirculation.

Take care of your intestines

Also, it is important to establish a good intestine-brain connection because if the first is not in good working order and your intestinal flora is damaged or failing, the neurotransmitters that our brain needs cannot be transmitted to it. Indeed, the intestinal flora has a very important role in the functioning of the brain. So adapt your diet to your gut health.

Small natural strokes of the hand

Of course, the little natural extras do exist and are totally safe and without risk. Here are a few that may help you:

  • Take pollen or royal jelly which will stimulate your organism and therefore be of great help for your memory work
  • Take a cure of rosemary officinal verbenone hydrolats at a rate of 2 tablespoons in a liter of water to drink during the day. Cure of 3 consecutive weeks.
  • Stimulate your ideas with essential oils that you can smell throughout the day such as basil or lemongrass.

Little extras

If you are in exam period, adapt your work method according to your personality. Some will retain better by reading aloud, others will prefer to write and implement a more visual method. So don't try to work like your neighbor but find your own system of work.
Finally don't forget that to memorize you need to stimulate your memory so to remember an idea, a data, a fact, a date, etc., you need to have read or repeated it 7 times so that the brain can store the element.

Good luck to all students.
