This winter, get through the infections

We are pleased to present a guest article written by Adrianne Cadiou. She shares with us her knowledge and experience as a naturopath. Here she shows that it is possible to boost your immunity naturally.

The flu shot debate again this year. However, there are natural ways to protect yourself and maintain your immune system. And it starts in June. The time for the white blood cells to multiply sufficiently.

Essential nutrients that support good immune health (there are many others, but this is the foundation):

  • Zinc: Allows the multiplication of white blood cells (start in May) present in fish, seafood, meats but it is the most poorly assimilated nutrient worsened with age. It may be helpful to supplement with zinc in the form of picolinate or citrate. Those most likely to be deficient in zinc are diabetics, vegetarians, people who consume a lot of dairy products, the elderly and people who use iron supplements. Stop if you are sick, resume afterwards;
  • Glutamine: This is the fuel for white blood cells, abundant in protein-rich foods and in our muscles. Hence the muscle wasting in case of diseases and infections and the link between sports activity and immunity. It can be interesting to maintain the muscles of our elders by small exercises or small weights on the ankles or wrists for a few minutes a day;
  • Vitamin D: No sunlight no vitamin D. The more vitamin D in the body, the better it is at making natural antibiotics. Supplementation is essential not at once but on a daily or weekly basis with already synthesized vitamin D3 (especially for elderly people who do not go out). The older we get, the less the body is able to synthesize its vitamin D. The recommended doses are multiplied by 2 after 60 years old;

  • Vitamin C: Anti-oxidant and protective of the white blood cell membrane in synergy with vitamin E. It has an action in the synthesis of antibodies too;
  • Ravintsara Essential Oil: Formidable as a preventive and curative suitable for little ones and the elderly. (ask your pharmacist for advice on dosage). In diffusion with lemon oil it is an atmospheric disinfectant.

If you are already affected, it's not a big deal!

  • 1/4 vitamin C Acerola 500 mg progressively every 2 hours then every hour during the day and as soon as it improves, gradually reduce;
  • Preferably whole citrus fruits;
  • Ravintsara EO can even be used to protect the youngest by putting a drop mixed with vegetable oil under the sole of the foot as a preventive and curative measure;
  • Avoid saturated fats, butter, cheese, industrial products, fried foods...which allow viruses and bacteria to build up stainless steel barriers that resist the corrosive products produced by white blood cells;
  • Avoid sugary products: The increase of sugar in the blood blocks the multiplication of white blood cells and the production of antibodies. 50 g of sugar reduces immunity for 5 hours.

The little ones at school who get spit on and get sick all winter long, we need to think about changing their breakfast (lactose is a sugar too).

Speaking of corrosive substances, eliminating an infection is also about oxygenation!

It sounds crazy, but corrosive substances are all composed of oxygen molecules. So breathe in through the belly, hold your breath for 5 seconds and breathe out. (Champagne effect guaranteed because the brain helps itself first). We are locked up most of the time in winter, air yourself 5mn every hour, air your house, car, workplace.

If this is not enough, go to the doctor, because infections quickly get worse!
