The Benefits of Finely Ground Green Clay
Finely ground green clay is a fairly coarse raw clay powder used for poultices, plasters, masks, balneotherapy, or personal hygiene. It mixes quickly to provide genuine comfort and effectively soothe the body.
WARNING: Unfortunately, Argiletz products do not always withstand the jolts and impacts of shipping well. As a result, clay may leak from its container and soil the bag, box, or other items in the package. We do our utmost to package orders in a way that minimizes this risk, but we cannot accept liability for any clay leakage that occurs during shipping. To ensure our customers continue to have access to these high-quality clays, we’re continuing to sell them online, but we do not cover any damage resulting from the original packaging’s fragility.
Directions for Use
- Preparing the paste: Pour the required amount of green clay into a glass or earthenware container. Cover with spring water (1 to 2 cm). Let the clay absorb the water (1 hour). Stir with a wooden spoon until the paste is smooth and creamy.
- Poultice and compress: Apply the clay paste directly to the skin in a layer 1 to 2 cm thick and leave on for 1 to 2 hours maximum. Or apply the clay using a thin cloth. Place the clay paste in the center of the cloth in a layer 2 cm thick, fold the four corners of the cloth over the clay, and apply this poultice directly to the desired area. In both cases, after 2 hours, remove as much clay as possible and rinse the skin with lukewarm water.
- Facial mask: Spread the clay paste in a 2–3 mm layer over your face. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. Do not let the clay paste dry. Rinse with lukewarm water. Apply a moisturizer.
- Hair mask: Spread the clay paste over the entire scalp. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse, then use your regular shampoo if desired. To wash your skin or hair, mix (for medium-length hair) 3 to 6 heaping tablespoons of clay with twice that amount of hot water. A thick, liquid paste will form. Let the clay swell for about 1 hour. Then, spread the mixture over wet skin or hair and massage gently. Let it sit for a short while, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Finally, condition and dry your skin or hair as usual.
- Soothing Bath: Dilute about 200 g of fine green clay in water, let it sit, and pour the paste into the bath. You may add a few drops of essential oils if desired. Relax in the bath for 20 minutes, then rinse off with clean water; your skin will feel supple and soft again. For dry skin, a moisturizing cream or lotion and/or the BAOBAB (LEG LOTION) moisturizing lotion for the legs—Demeter—may be beneficial.
Essential oils, and/or for dry hair, a few drops of vegetable oils can be added to the paste.
