Why do we lack energy?

When the body speaks to us, the priority is to listen to it and take note of what it is telling us. When we lack energy and fatigue sets in little by little, we must gently take this sign as a physiological signal from the body, a completely normal body indication. In fact, being tired is not necessarily a symptom of an illness but rather a call from the body that alerts us to a need. In the context of fatigue, the body's call is to rest.

The characteristics of fatigue

Here are some of them:

  • Type: physical or psychological fatigue
  • Intensity ranging from low fatigue to exhaustion
  • The category: Reactive fatigue which is linked to the environment or constitutional fatigue linked to the psychological profile of each person

By understanding and analyzing our own fatigue, it becomes easy to define our malaise and to find a solution. However, in theory everything looks so simple but fatigue is very complicated to define and understand. It has long been suppressed and seen as a complaint rather than a real need. Tired people were often shunned or categorized. Today, we finally understand that fatigue is a very real call from the body and that learning to listen to ourselves is part of a healthy life process.

Changing mores

A naturopath can easily define your terrain, which is a very important notion in naturopathy. The state of fatigue will therefore be defined according to the term vitality.

  • The sub-vital are people who lack vitality. They often have cold extremities, pale complexion, difficult recovery, a pronounced state of stress and general asthenia.
  • Over-vital people are those who are in great shape, who are never cold and who tend to warm up others both physically and mentally.
  • Finally, without going to extremes, the so-called "normal" category is made up of people with normal fatigue, who warm up easily if they feel cold, who have good stress management and average tone.

In his book Chronofatigue, Dr. Jean-Loup Dervaux shows us ten behaviors that promote fatigue:

  • A bad eating habit with an excessive consumption of fast sugars, animal fats, salt and of course too many calories ingested over 24 hours.
  • Too many harmful substances such as alcohol, tobacco, tranquilizers and coffee abuse.
  • Too much immobility or lack of exercise. By not moving, one favors a decrease in metabolism and thus a physical fatigue that sets in
  • Too much stress whether it is professional, family or any other type of stress.

It is therefore on these different points that you will have to make changes on a daily basis to see a first effect on your physical fatigue. If you continue in this way, your life will not stabilize in terms of fatigue.

Mental fatigue is not forgotten and there are also solutions that can be proposed to you

  • Live a positive life that wants you to see the glass half full
  • Live in the moment, leaving the past behind and not thinking about the future that will ring your doorbell tomorrow. Live for the M moment first
  • Acceptance of your life: try to step back from your problems. Rumination is not positive and it will lock you into a psychological fatigue and a huge lack of energy. Indeed, your energy will only be used to find solutions where acceptance may be the only solution.

This advice is not easy since the last years, the world asks too much of us and locks us in an excessive fatigue and a growing lack of vitality and energy. Learning to gently understand our condition and to remedy it with gentle methods is a first step towards an overflowing energy.

Finally, you should know that many plants in phytotherapy can help you maintain your energy or make up for your current fatigue. Whether in the form of adapted supplements, essential oils or even sometimes simply herbal teas, plants support our health and can often be very beneficial to us.
