The virtues of the herbal bath

Do you remember the legend of Cleopatra taking her bath with donkey milk? If you don't have milk, you can prepare an aromatic bath with medicinal plants that are easy to find in the garden or near your home.  Discover herbal baths, a practice that combines pleasure, relaxation and natural health.

Mettre des plantes dans son bain

The plants chosen will either be freshly picked or dried. Avoid powdered plants, which will leave unpleasant debris and may also clog drains.

Depending on the plants and the quantity, you can put them directly into the bath or, in a cloth bag to prevent them from scattering in the water.

Finally, if you want to use bark or roots, it is possible to boil them first in a large pot before pouring them into your bath water.

For the aromatic bath to be effective, add an average of 3 good handfuls of fresh plants.

Un bain aux pétales de rose

The rose petals bring a delicate, feminine and luxurious touch to your moment. The suave scent that emanates from them perfumes the bathroom and invites you on a journey of reconnection to your inner goddess.

Fresh rose petals or dried rosebuds offer the same result.

This aromatic bath is recommended for women who need to reconnect with their feminine part, their inner goddess. It is a step in celebrating the woman you are. The rose petal bath is a gift you give to yourself, a special moment to find yourself, celebrate yourself and take care of yourself.

Un bain à l'eucalyptus

In some African and North African traditions, eucalyptus baths are practiced the day before the wedding before the henna rituals. Eucalyptus is purifying. The essential oil contained in its leaves has recognized health benefits. Indeed, eucalyptus essential oil is a powerful expectorant and anti-inflammatory of the respiratory tract. It helps to thin and eliminate mucus present in the bronchi and sinuses.

The bath with eucalyptus is recommended for people who feel the "cold snap" coming. It also facilitates the healing of people who feel caught from respiratory tract: blocked nose, fatty/dry cough, congested sinus ...

Un bain au thym

The thym acts on the respiratory tract. It is commonly used in infusion to quickly relieve respiratory disorders such as bronchitis, colds, coughs ... The active molecule contained in its essence is one of the most powerful natural antiseptics.

In an aromatic bath, the vapors will act at different levels. The volatile compounds will enter through the respiratory tract and act at the heart of the problem following the same principle as inhalation.

In addition, the skin is also a gateway to the inside of your body. Anything that comes in contact with your skin eventually passes into the bloodstream. So, if you're feeling "flugy" or even feverish, the thyme bath can help you feel better.

Bain à la lavande

Lavender infused in a bath will relieve skin problems such as chicken pox, allergic skin reactions, psoriasis or eczema. Lavender actually soothes itching, calms inflammations and helps with healing.

Good to know: to potentiate the effects of lavender, you can add chamomile flowers to your bath.

Pourquoi utiliser les plantes au lieu des huiles essentielles

Essential oils are concentrates of active ingredients. They are frighteningly effective and when misused, they can be dangerous. Essential oils are fatty bodies. They are therefore not miscible in water. To use them in a bath, it is advisable to dilute them in a dispersant, otherwise they will float on the surface and you risk burning yourself.

The use of herbs in baths is easier. There is no risk of accidents or wrong dosage. This practice is suitable for everyone, young and old alike.

The advantage of medicinal herb baths is the process from picking to the bath itself. Every step is a pleasure for the senses. The smells, the textures, the colors stimulate your entire being. A herbal bath is a moment for you, out of time that invites you to connect with the plants and your soul.
