The spices of detox

Anne-Claire Meret, naturopath and EFT (Emotional freedom technique - energy psychology technique) practitioner in Paris shares with us the 11 ideal spices for a good detox.

The star anise: stimulates biliary secretion and digestion.

Cinnamon: helps stabilize sugar levels, aids digestion and warms
the "digestive fire" in Asian cooking. It is also antibacterial.

Cumin: particularly good for digestion, it prevents bloating.

Turmeric: powerful anti-inflammatory, very rich in antioxidants that fight
against the onset of cardiovascular disease and certain cancers. Caution,
if you suffer or have suffered from liver disease, the stimulation
of this fragile organ by turmeric may be too much.

Mint: antispasmodic and antiseptic for the intestines, mint is
the ally of nausea! It is also an excellent anti-inflammatory and stimulant
of the nervous system. A must for headaches, keep
in your purse.

Coriander: it relieves many digestive disorders, it is very rich in
antioxidants and its leaves are an excellent source of vitamin K, necessary
for blood clotting.

The laurel: it awakens the appetite and restores energy to weakened bodies. It
also relieves flatulence and stimulates lazy stomachs.

Fenugreek: it stimulates the appetite, soothes inflammation and revitalizes the body.
It also helps control blood glucose and lipid levels
in people with diabetes.

Basil: excellent antioxidant, it also lowers blood sugar
and contains a lot of vitamin K, like cilantro. It is also a
valuable aid to digestion, limiting intestinal gas in particular.

Tarragon: particularly antioxidant, tarragon is rich in iron, essential
for oxygen transport and the formation of red blood cells in the blood, and
manganese, a cofactor for several enzymes that facilitate a dozen
metabolic processes.

Thyme: anti-inflammatory and immune stimulant, decongestant of
respiratory ailments (coughs, bronchitis), it relieves gastritis, indigestion
and colic.
