Emunctorial hygiene: how to make a good spring detox?

A breeze of renewal will soon replace the gray and cold of winter. It's a time for change, as nature slowly awakens from a period of rest: buds open, young shoots emerge, sap rises, birds sing. Magic is in the air. For us, it's also a sign of rebirth and regeneration.

What's the point of spring detox?

In winter, the body struggles to stay awake, adapting to our busy lives. Our organism seems exhausted by the cold winter days, as well as by the various illnesses we have had to endure throughout these months when microbes have been able to take root within us. In fact, the toxins produced and accumulated have voluntarily lodged themselves in our bodies. Thanks to traditional and natural medicines, we can provide our bodies with everything they need to regain their lost energy and be reborn like spring.

The aim of a spring detox is to restore our emunctorial hygiene by purging the toxins and waste we've accumulated over the months. Nature will be with us at the same time, and its energy of renewal will help us reconnect with the earth's cycle.

How to detox for spring?

Since we're all different, every detox should be personalized and tailored to our individual needs. Nevertheless, there are some general tips that everyone can apply. Worth knowing:

For a good detox, focus on your daily diet

- Eat more seasonal, organic fruits and vegetables to avoid extra work for the emunctories. Prefer local foods to respect the earth (carrots, celery, leeks, spinach, cauliflower, turnips, apples).

- Avoid processed products, industrial ready meals and junk food.

- Increase your intake of green vegetables, rich in vitamins (A, B, D, C...) and minerals (magnesium, calcium, potassium...). Green juices (80% vegetables) and green smoothies are highly recommended during this period.

- Limit (or even eliminate) consumption of animal proteins. Food waste from animal proteins loads the liver, preventing the elimination of purines already present.

- Eliminate refined products such as white sugar, white flour and refined salt. Prefer semi-complete or even complete alternatives.

- Buvez water ! During this detox period, consume 1.5 liters of low mineral content water per day. Avoid water that's too rich in minerals, as it won't help your body eliminate toxins.

- Eliminate alcohol and all stimulants.

For a good detox, pampering your liver is a priority

Our liver is one of the emunctories responsible for eliminating toxins. Sometimes overloaded, sometimes clogged, sometimes tired, it is important to support it in its purification function. Phytotherapy is a great help in this respect. In fact, many plants (readily available from herbalists) help the work of the liverThese include milk thistle, artichoke, black radish, rosemary, desmodium and boldo. In syrup, capsule or herbal tea form, these plants will help or stimulate your child.

The liver is the body's warmest organ. So, to stimulate its work of eliminating toxins, don't hesitate to place a hot water bottle on your belly (under the ribs, on the right-hand side) to warm up this organ and enable it to work optimally.

Rest for an effective detox

For a good detox, listen to your body and respond to its needs. To do this, don't stay up too late, and plan nights of 7 to 9 hours' restorative sleep. During sleepWith a good night's sleep, the body regenerates, evacuates accumulated stress and boosts the immune system. A good night's sleep will boost your energy without the slightest effort.

If you feel restless before going to bed, don't hesitate to take a soothing, relaxing natural supplement or herbal tea (linden, vervain, Roman chamomile, lavender, orange blossom, etc.).

Oxygenate yourself in spring

Finally, the arrival of sunshine and milder weather will give you the chance to enjoy the benefits of nature, with energizing walks in the woods, by the sea, in the mountains or anywhere else you feel is rejuvenating. Winter has shut us in, and now it's time to open up to the world and be reborn.

Light physical activity is a minimum requirement for vital reconstruction. What's more, practising a sport allows us to let go of all our worries, while balancing our nervous system.

Listen to your body for your spring detox

Finally, to feel aligned during this period of emunctorial cleansing, feel in tune with yourself, your values, your thoughts, and don't hesitate to work on your personal development .
