Acid-base balance: foods to eat first

It is no longer a secret: our modern life is full of disruptive, even destructive, elements for our body. With prepared meals, sodas, refined foods, cold cuts, cheeses, coffee, alcohol, but also stress, medication, sedentary lifestyle or, on the contrary, excess of sport, lack of sleep or bad breathing, our organism inevitably tends to acidification.
Many metabolic disorders and diseases are due to an acid-base imbalance, a fundamental notion to the proper functioning of metabolic reactions, and therefore, to the maintenance of good health

[bctt tweet="When acidity is present, buffer systems are overwhelmed and no longer function properly. "[username="Santenu"]When acidity is present, the buffer systems are overwhelmed and no longer function properly. The body is obliged to draw on its alkaline reserves, particularly in the bones, teeth, nails and hair. Consequences of all this? Chronic fatigue, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, kidney stones, ... to name a few!

It is obvious that a dietary correction is essential to correct the acidosis. Ideally, the intake of alkalizing foods should be two thirds against one third of acidifying foods, as in the diet of our ancestors hunter-gatherers.
It is, therefore, first of all, to limit its consumption of acidifying foods: red meats, cheeses, eggs, dairy products ... In general, all animal proteins produce many acid residues. These foods should be consumed in moderation, as well as sugars and their derivatives, cereals, legumes, sodium chloride...

Among all these foods, some have undeniable nutritional qualities. That's why it's not a question of depriving ourselves of them completely, but rather of avoiding excess of them and counterbalancing their negative effects by consuming a greater quantity of alkalizing foods.

The best alkaline foods are without a doubt fruits and vegetables. They should make up the majority of your meals. If most vegetables are to be consumed without moderation, some are to be limited. This is the case for Brussels sprouts, asparagus, artichokes, watercress, tomatoes (especially cooked) and onions. The others are alkaline, especially green vegetables, and help to compensate for the excess acid.

Fruits are also very good allies for maintaining or promoting acid-base balance: bananas, cherries, apples, pears, etc. Almonds, chestnuts, potatoes and sweet potatoes also have very high alkaline properties.Pot of almonds
Almost all fruits are at the wellness appointment. Even citrus fruits, especially lemon, despite its acidic taste, can be consumed in water to rebalance the pH. However, people suffering from metabolic weakness will be careful to avoid this type of acidic food in order to alkalize their body, as it will only lead to further acidification.

Since sources of pleasure are most often the least good for your body, it is important to understand that no food should be eliminated from your diet. As we have already pointed out, moderation is everything. So there's no need to get frustrated and cause extra stress.

It is, of course and as always, essential to drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day. Choose low mineral content to gently stimulate the renal system. Moderate physical activity, good breathing and good stress management are also essential.
