The concept of adaptogenic plant is attributed to Nicolai LAZAREV, a Russian pharmacologist of the 20th century. The concept defines a substance which, according to him, "is capable of inducing in the body a state of non-specific increased resistance allowing to counterbalance the signals of stress and to adapt to an exceptional effort". His study was conducted in 1943 and continued and concretized by one of his former students in 1960.

Definition and origin

This adaptogen concept was already used in traditional Eastern medicine. In ancient times, the Chinese had the idea of superior tonics. This was characterized by increasing energy in order to be able to fight or treat diseases.

The adaptive action invests in the body and mind. In particular, it allows the body to fight stress by adapting to it.

Research on adaptogenic plants began in Russia in 1943 with the toxicologist Nicolai LAZAREV. The latter sought to analyze the effect and action of someplants. The concept of "adaptive" officially appeared in 1947. During the 1960s, Israel BREKHMAN continued his research. In 1969, with DARDYMOV, studies expanded to other plants. During the 1980s, the observations took on an international aspect.

The Energizing Tonic with spicy roots is a very effective tonic. This infusion is prepared in 15 minutes to be served after filtering. What you need is Ashwaganda root, astragalus, ginger, licorice and cinnamon bark powder. We let simmer in simmering water before consuming.

There are several adaptogenic plants that each have a particular effect on the body's well-being. Their virtues are present in the leaves, stems and especially the roots.

Eleutherococcus, an energizing adaptogen

It is also recognized asRussian ginseng or devil's bush. The roots of Eleutherococcus are used as a tonic. The plant is much used in cases of fatigue, whether physical or intellectual. It is also very beneficial to the elderly, as it reports a lot of energy. It is also recommended for students in exam period.

Eleutherococcus works in the body and facilitates recovery, provides strength and improves intellectual abilities. Athletes from Slavic and Eastern countries use this plant during training and tournaments in order to have a good performance. It is also used by Soviet cosmonauts to adapt to the situation in space.

Rhodiola, the plant to calm emotional reactions

It is also called Siberian ginseng or golden root. Rhodiola has been known for thousands of years. There are more than 200 species in the same genus. This adaptogenic herb is capable of calming emotions. It works directly against stress. It is a relaxing plant. It makes it easy to find calm and serenity.

It is anantidepressant plant. It clears disorders on anxiety. By acting on low morale, one Rhodiola is thus considered a plant with a miracle effect.
