Natural alternatives against hyperactivity

There are more and more children labeled: "hyperactive"! In France, approximately 5% of school children are said to have ADHD, and worldwide, rates vary from 3.5% to 9% of children with ADHD, which may or may not be accompanied by hyperactivity (ADHD). To counter this real epidemic, traditional medicine has no solution other than to legally drug these toddlers who are a little too turbulent!

However, there are natural solutions to this type of behavioral problem.

One of them is the Phytactiv (phyto-aromatherapy) which seems to be very effective. It contains:

  • peppermint, whose menthol-rich essential oil is a cerebral stimulant. This plant improves the concentration and the capacity of study. From a scientific point of view, peppermint increases brain function by stimulating the flow of neurotransmitters at the synapses. This plant stimulates outward-looking creative expression. It promotes enthusiasm and stimulates memory by facilitating the action of acetylcholine.
  • basil which inhibits the enzymes that inhibit acetylcholine and it is known that higher levels of acetylcholine promote memory, recall and concentration.
  • nutmeg: this small nut is crossed by channels which contain essential oil. This oil contains myristicin which repairs damage to the nervous system. It is used in the treatment of hyperkinesia and ADHD because of its positive effect on learning and memory processes.
  • of Nardostachys jatamansi, better known as Indian spikenard, this essential oil contains nardosinone, a neuroregenerative substance that stimulates the growth of neurons.
  • rosemary, an aromatic herb used to stimulate memory since Greek antiquity. This plant stimulates and awakens the attention, clears the mind, improves concentration disorders and memory loss. Scientific studies show that this plant has a future in cognitive medicine.

To give your children the best chance, you can also provide them with zinc in the form of food supplements. Serious studies show a link between zinc deficiency and attention deficit disorder.

Studies have shown that attention and behavioral problems are more frequent in children whose mothers were deficient in iodine during pregnancy. However, the value of iodine in children with this type of disorder has yet to be proven.

Some studies confirm that hyperactive children often lack magnesium. And if not, magnesium improves the anxiety that often affects children with ADD/ADHD, as well as sleep, which is one of the essential lifestyle factors to avoid or improve this type of disorder.
Older studies have shown that dietary supplements of fish oils (omega-3) improve very quickly (6 months) the problems of dyscalculia, dysorthographia or ADHD. Children with memory or learning difficulties at school, but not diagnosed with ADHD, showed better scores when taking omega-3 in the form of dietary supplements (fish or krill oil) or vegetable oils (rapeseed, flaxseed, camelina) integrated in large doses into the diet.
