Diabetes: conventional approaches and natural accompaniments

What is the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes? How to accompany them naturally? Find out everything you need to know about type 1 and type 2 diabetes and how to limit their progression with naturopathy.

Diabetes: what is it?

Diabetes is characterized by an abnormal elevation of glucose in the blood, otherwise known as blood glucose. There are two main forms of diabetes: diabetestype 1 and diabetestype 2because their origins stem either from a stop production of insulin by the pancreas or from the fact that there is still some left but it is misused.

Type 1 diabetes: overview.

The type 1 diabetes is the diabetes of the young. It concerns children and young adults. It happens very suddenly, sometimes after a trauma or a huge emotional and/or physical stress. Many think it inherited because indeed, if a parent has type 1 diabetes, his or her offspring may also declare one.

Prior to confirmed diagnosis, the symptoms are:

  • very strong desire to drink: the subject gets up at night to drink, he asks for water often during the day...
  • he urinates just as much
  • significant weight loss to the point of leanness
  • great fatigue despite good sleep and rest

Type 1 diabetes is considered an autoimmune disease and individuals are recognized as disabled.

Type 1 diabetes: natural treatments and accompaniments

  • The pancreatic cells responsible for the production of insulin, the beta cells of the islets of Langerhans, are attacked by the immune system. Therefore, this loss must be compensated for by injecting insulin directly into the body via a pen or pump.
  • In addition, a diet should be implemented, taking care to distribute the glycemic intake according to the diabetic's needs throughout the day.
  • However, it is important to know thatfiber reduces blood sugar levels because it locks the sugar into the cellulose which will then be passed in the stool.
  • Cinnamon is hypoglycemic.
  • The coconut sugar Is the sugar with lowest glycemic index.
  • Acacia honey is the least sweet honey.
  • Because type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease, taking care of the microbiota is essential. Calm mucosal inflammation and reseed quality probiotics to modulate the immune response. An anti-inflammatory, gluten-free and lactose-free diet is recommended.
  • Chromium is also known to facilitate insulin uptake by the cell

Type 2 diabetes: overview.

The type 2 diabetes is more insidious. It arrives around the age of 50 and has no symptoms but is the result of an inappropriate lifestyle and a diet too rich in sugar.

It is often detected during a routine blood test.

In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas still makes insulin but not enough. The body gets tired and, in the long run, will stop producing them.

Type 2 diabetes: conventional treatment and natural approaches

In order to contain diabetes, medications will be prescribed. However, for effective and lasting results, it is essential to review your lifestyle habits:

  • Redefining a healthy, natural, balanced and low sugar diet.
  • Favoringlow glycemic index foods (low or no sugar, high fiber...)
  • avoid fruit juices, prefer fresh fruit which, thanks to the pulp, does not cause blood sugar levels to soar
  • practice a sport activity
  • lose weight
  • restore a quality intestinal flora and act on the inflammation of the intestinal mucosa
  • Focus on dietary supplements that favor sugar assimilation and lower blood sugar: berberine, cinnamon, chromium

Diabetes a disease at risk.

The diabeteswhen properly monitored, can be properly stabilized. However, if the main recommendations are not followed, the consequences can be catastrophic: blindness, amputation, high blood pressureetc...
