Beware of the dangers of NON organic cosmetics

Eat organic quality fruits and vegetables, drink green juices and make monodiets and detoxification cures several times a year while continuing to use mass-market skincare products, there is a real balance that must be corrected.

Do you know the risks of applying creams, make-up, shower gels and shampoos that are not certified organic to your body and face? The risks are enormous for both you and the environment. Let's not leave out hair dyes that poison us as well as nail polishes whose harmful effects are often ignored.

In the morning, the majority of women apply makeup using, after the classic day care, various types of products such as foundation, powder, Khol pencil, mascara, eye shadow, lipstick and so on. The list can sometimes be very long for some.Did you know, dear women and teenagers reading this, that the products you apply to your skin cross the skin barrier to the bloodstream in a very quick time of just 20 minutes?

You will certainly react by saying that European standards have been established and that tests have been done? So of course, I totally agree with you. Most of the cosmetics you use will not cause you any problems in the short term, but this shower gel or shampoo you use contains 1% of this substance in addition to 1.5% of another substance, etc. You then put on our skin an explosive cocktail that over the days becomes more deeply embedded in the deep fibers of your body.

make-up

If I haven't convinced you to switch to organic quality products or "home made" cosmetics, let's read the labels together. The first ingredient is the one that is found in the greatest quantity and at the end of the list are the components whose concentration is less than 1%. However, these can be placed in the wrong order.

Cosmetic ingredients to avoid

  • Mineral oils such as paraffin or petrolatum.
  • BHA or BHT are synthetic antioxidants that are toxic to the liver in high doses.
  • Perfumes, fragrances or aromas.
  • The dyes, some of which are allergenic, carcinogenic or cause danger to the reproductive system. Beware of hair dyes, of which the list is very long and which often cause serious problems.
  • Formaldehyde is mainly found in nail polish at less than 5% but also in shower gels, toothpaste, etc. However, this preservative is carcinogenic, irritant and allergenic.
  • The compounds containing: bromo, chloro or iodo are organohalogen compounds.
  • Silicones, with -one or -ane endings, are very harmful to our environment.
  • PEGs which are emulsifiers and irritating surfactants.
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and other SLS are aggressive and very harmful to the softness of your skin.
  • Aluminum salts found in deodorants and which are subject to many controversies.
  • Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate
  • Paraben

Favour natural cosmetics

This list is of course not exhaustive as we would need a complete book to transcribe everything. In view of the long and short term risks to our health, let's opt for natural alternatives

Certified organic cosmetics

  • The purchase of cosmetic products with organic standards and labels: EcoCert, Cosmébio, Nature et Progrès, etc.
  • The use of products such as vegetable oils, essential oils, hydrolats or clay or ayurvedic powders.
  • The preparation of homemade products with ingredients from your daily life: eggs, milk, honey or fresh or dried plants in maceration or infusion. Many workshops are developing to offer you an initiation to this type of preparation.

Taking care of yourself also involves the bathroom...
