Treat your hair with oil
Before the use of masks and other hair lotions became widespread, vegetable oils were the only way to take care of your hair. Hair oils, which are very rich in nutrients and active ingredients, have never disappointed.
Methods of using hair oils
Hair oils can offer their properties through several proven methods:
In the bath: the oil bath consists of coating the entire hair (including the roots) with oil strand by strand to get soaked hair. It is then rolled in a towel overnight and rinsed and washed the next morning.
As a conditioner: applying a few drops of vegetable oil to the hair can replace a traditional conditioner.
In daily use: A few drops applied to the ends every morning and the vegetable oil will moisturise the hair without making it greasy.
Hair care: the most commonly used cosmetic oils
Coconut Oil
Coconut vegetable oil is obtained from the first cold pressing of the coconut pulp. Coconut oil is very beneficial for hair, especially dry, damaged, dull or frizzy hair. Coconut is rich in lauric acid which allows coconut oil to penetrate easily and deeply into the hair fibre to repair it.
Coconut oil is known for its many virtues:
It strengthens the hair fibre.
It nourishes the hair in depth.
It hydrates the scalp.
It makes dull hair shine.
It purifies the scalp.
Coconut oil has the characteristic of solidifying below 20°C and should therefore be warmed in the sun or in a bain-marie before each use. It is applied to the hair (in the form of a mask) from the roots to the ends on average once a week for a minimum of 30 minutes.
Castor oil
Castor oil is a shrub of tropical origin whose seeds are used for their nourishing and strengthening properties for hair and nails.
For these reasons, castor oil, obtained by cold pressing, is part of the common care in cosmetics to strengthen damaged ends and also to accelerate hair growth.
Thanks to its concentration in ricinoleic acid, it nourishes and strengthens the hair fibre in depth.
It has antibacterial and antifungal properties that clean and purify the scalp.
It is rich in vitamin E which is a natural antioxidant. It protects the hair from external attacks and comes to repair the hair and stimulate its growth.
Castor oil has a very viscous texture that can be disturbing to some people. For those who wish, it is possible to dilute it in another vegetable oil (such as coconut oil)to give it a texture that is more pleasant to handle. Next, apply it to dry hair, massaging it into the scalp and insisting on the ends. Leave it on for at least an hour or overnight and then shampoo.
Jojoba oil
Jojoba oil is obtained by first cold pressing and is rich in vitamins A, B, C, D and E. It has been used for centuries for its softening and protective properties for the skin and hair. This vegetable oil also participates in the regulation of sebum and the pH of the skin, allowing the skin to remain neither too oily nor too dry.
In hair care, jojoba oil is special because, thanks to its regulating action, it is suitable for oily and dandruffy hair as well as for dull, dry and brittle hair.
Argan oil
Argan oil is obtained by cold pressing from the argan tree, a tree known as the speciality of Morocco. Argan vegetable oil is known for its moisturizing and nourishing properties for skin and hair.
In hair care, argan oil is interesting for :
dry and dull hair
