Cadmium and health

Cadmium like others heavy metals is part of toxic environmental hazards that are ubiquitous and detrimental to health. It is transmitted to us by the plants which absorb it by their roots. It circulates through plant protection products and runoff water.

In the United States, most cadmium comes from phosphate fertilizers, 80% of which is produced in Florida.200 to
265 million tons of phosphate come from the United States and are used in agriculture worldwide.

Therefore, it enters the body through foods such as rice, grains, peanuts, and shellfish. Some plants seem to accumulate it to a greater extent: chard, lettuce, spinach, celery and rhubarb. It is especially after the age of 50 that it accumulates in the kidneys, the brain, the nervous system and the liver and causes damage that can lead to the development of cancer. When tissue is taken from tumors, it is found to contain 5 times the amount of cadmium in the kidneys, for example, and 3 times the amount in their blood. If exposed, cadmium levels also increase in the urine and can remain high for up to 20 years.

Researchers recently found that acute intoxications to cadmium may be co-responsible for the destruction of certain command ganglia in the brain. These damaged ganglia are involved in the control of all voluntary movements. Their destruction causes nerve pathologies such as Parkinson's, but also other degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.

Since the microparticles of heavy metals or radioactive are spread in the air and by the rain and by the cultures through all the waters of the planet even if we follow the organic way to feed ourselves, it is better to protect ourselves from it.

Buying organic food could reduce cadmium intake by about 48%.

Some specific herbal teas seem to have a protective effect and would prevent in part the accumulation of cadmium in the tissues.

Thus, licorice extract would protect lymphocytes, while pollen, Guarana, Tribulus and onion extract would preserve spermatogenesis (sperm synthesis process) from the harmful effects of cadmium.

Propolis and Tribulus extract seem to protect the kidney cells in particular

Tribulus, tomato, oregano, eleutherococcus root, fenugreek seed powder, onion, burdock, bilberry thanks to its pigments and Korean red ginseng seem to be directed towards liver protection.

The brain for its part would be preserved by quercetin, which maintains memory and curbs the anxiety that cadmium can also cause.

The heart and blood would be less poisoned by eating onion and curry leaves (Murraya koenigii), which would even repair existing damage.

The thymus would be protected by Tunisian radish (Raphanus sativus), the pancreas by ginger root and Nigella sativa seed.

Many other natural substances such as sorrel, African hibiscus, onion, Ginkgo biloba, sprouted seeds such as fenugreek, quinoa, oregano and grape seed extract (due to their procyanidins).
