Is stress the cause of your muscle pain?

Have you ever made the connection between your back pain and any stress? Perhaps you have never put your finger on this obvious relationship? And yet, a large number of people suffering from back, lumbar or cervical pain are individuals stressed and anxious by their lifestyle, their personal situation or any other reason such as work, family, friends, etc. It is very important to establish relationships between our psychic and our physical body because the mind has a significant role on our body.

Originally, stress is not a negative mechanism for the body because we need it to move forward and evolve positively. It is a kind of defense tool against external aggressions. In a stressful situation, our body releases a hormone to keep us alive, to cope, to help us manage.
Unfortunately we are far from the stress of Neanderthal men for whom the only source of anxiety was a bestial attack or a fight for food. In those days, stress was positive because it was punctual and did not last more than a few minutes or even seconds. In this day and age, the average human being is under constant stress, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How do you want the body to handle a situation like this? How do you expect the body not to poison itself by living in such a stressful and continuous way?

Stress poisons both the mind and the body: muscle, stomach, skin, heart. All organs are affected in their own way. When you are stressed, your body suffers long-term damage as well as occasional damage. Indeed, when stress overwhelms you, you contract your back muscles.

Have you ever felt those twinges or cramps
when taking an exam or when confronted by your boss?

These continuous and incessant tensions are very harmful for your person because very quickly your body becomes vulnerable and fragile. At the slightest mistake, at the slightest false move, it is the back that will pay the price. The first shock noticed in these cases is lumbago which will take advantage of your muscle weakness to intrude on your daily life and suddenly stop it.

To avoid this kind of painful inconvenience, the prevention will be to manage your stress. Many techniques are available to you:

  • Relaxation
  • Yoga
  • Surround yourself with the right people, those who will push you forward.
  • Opting for gratitude
  • Adopt positivism
  • Playing sports
  • Apply deep breathing
  • Evolving towards Mindfulness
  • Set up an activity you like
  • Take time for yourself

But it is also important to think about your diet to live a healthier life and fight against the stress that invades your muscles. Some molecules help defend the body - or stabilize it.
So let's consume the necessary nutrients as often as possible:

  • From omega 3 in the form of oil, small freshwater fish or food supplements that are easily found today.
  • Antioxidants found in garlic, parsley, red bell pepper, cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage or broccoli, but also in berries, eggplant, green tea, kiwi, mango. In the field of phytotherapy, many plants prove their antioxidant properties: find them in dry powders, capsules, syrups or fresh plants at your herbalist.
  • Vitamins such as vitamins A, C and E as well as B vitamins in the majority of fresh, seasonal, organically grown fruits and vegetables.
  • Some minerals such as selenium, magnesium or zinc.
