Most people interested in natural medicine recognize the importance of the liver in health. On the other hand, official medicine is not very interested in it. It offers us vaccination against hepatitis B (a disaster) and liver transplantation... when it is already too late. On the other hand, natural medicine exploits the wonders of nature in order to preserve our liver or heal it when it is sick.
The liver, essential to life
The liver is the largest gland in the body, which allows it to do a colossal job that is essential to life. Without going into too much detail, we can summarize the activity of the liver in 3 functions:
- METABOLIC: the liver plays a major role in the metabolism of sugars, proteins and fats.
- SYNTHESIS: proteins from amino acids, cholesterol and bile salts that make up the bile essential for fat absorption.
- EPURATION: The liver "detoxifies" most of the "poisons" absorbed from the diet, including drugs, which it converts into non-toxic compounds. Together with the kidneys, it ensures the elimination of waste produced by our metabolism.
Preserving our liver
It is fundamental to maintain a healthy liver if you want to enjoy good health. Unfortunately, it suffers a lot throughout our lives because the factors of aggression of the liver are multiple.
Let us first mention the incredible consumption of drugs that characterizes our society. I am thinking in particular of antidepressants, sleeping pills, antibiotics, but also of the contraceptive pill, which is unnecessary but toxic for the liver. I am also thinking of our food that is too rich, tampered with or contaminated by pesticides and preservatives. Alcohol abuse (France holds a sad record in this respect) is also a major factor in liver suffering. This is why I advise all my patients to undertake a liver cleansing and revitalization cure several times a year. To do this, phytotherapy offers many remedies such as dandelion, artichoke, milk thistle or fumitory. It is with the cynara cardunculus that I obtain the most spectacular results.
The CYNARA the great friend of our liver
Cynara cardunculus (wild artichoke) is a perennial plant that has been acclimatized and selected in France to give oil. It can grow up to human height with a short, thick trunk. Cynara Cardunculus oil is obtained by cold pressing the seeds. This oil is the only one on the world market with Silymarin in solution, i.e. the most bioavailable. Sylimarin is a regenerator and a detoxifier that is very powerful for the hepatic cell.
The action of the product is based on the high concentration of essential fatty acids, vitamin E, provitamin A and bioavailable Silymarin.
The product is particularly indicated for practicing liver cleansing cures and recommended for users of the contraceptive pill and regular alcohol consumers.
It is also indicated in the following cases:
- Hepatic degeneration produced by:
- Acute or chronic hepatitis,
- Toxic-metabolic hepatitis: alcohol abuse, diabetes, chemotherapy
- Cirrhosis or pre-cirrhosis,
- Stressful situations.
- Fatigue and convalescence.
- Dermatitis, eczema and situations of excessive drying of the skin.
- Dysmenorrhea and Amenorrhea - Mastitis - Fertility problems.
- Weight loss diets - Hypercholesterolemia.
Usual dose: 3 capsules in the morning on an empty stomach.
In cases of severe liver disease: 6 per day: 3 in the morning on an empty stomach and 3 in the evening at bedtime..
These are acute inflammations of the liver caused by a virus.
The 3 most frequently encountered viruses are A, B, C, but other viral diseases (such as mononucleosis) can also cause hepatitis.
However, only hepatitis B and C can evolve towards chronicity with the risk of developing cirrhosis or liver cancer.
Desmodium, remedy for acute hepatitis
Desmodium is a herbaceous legume used by traditional healers in the African forest for various viral liver diseases. Acute hepatitis characterized by various signs such as yellow complexion, fatigue, digestive disorders, increased transaminases in blood biology, improves in a week, and disappears in 2 to 4 weeks with desmodium
Usual dose: 3 x 2 capsules/day in attack and 3×1 capsule/day in maintenance.
I combine desmodium with a great homeopathic remedy for hepatitis : Phosphorus.
At the pharmacy, get a tube of Phophorus granules in 7 CH and 15 CH.
Phosphorus 7 CH: 3 granules once a day.
Phosphorus 15 CH : 3 granules on the 8th, 16th, 24th, and 32nd day (do not take the 7 CH on these days).
A cure for chronic hepatitis B or C
As conventional medicine has few solutions to offer in the case of chronic hepatitis (interferon gives very few good results), this formula is a natural alternative, without side effects, with nearly 80% of positive responses.
It is a complex of plants relatively rare but active against the viruses responsible for chronic hepatitis Bupleurum falcatum is a Japanese plant that has antiviral properties useful in measles, herpes and hepatitis.
Phyllanthus amarus is an annual herbaceous plant, native to the Indo-Malayan region with antiviral action. Gambir leaf is an active herb in hepatitis as is Jiaogulan which is a Chinese herb. The curcuma is a plant mostly grown in India that has antiviral and hepatoprotective properties and Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice root extract) is used in the treatment of cirrhosis and chronic viral hepatitis.
N-acetyl-cysteine which inhibits hepatitis B virus replication, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6 and selenium complete the formula.
In case of major liver disorders (chronic viral hepatitis):
3 X 2 capsules per day for 2 months then 4 capsules per day for 6 months.
In case of cirrhosis:
3 X 2 capsules per day for 6 months and then 4 capsules per day for 1 year.
SAMe can be usefully combined to treat serious liver conditions such as hepatitis and cirrhosis.
Liver protection during chemotherapy
Preventing the hepato-digestive effects of cancer chemotherapy is also a good indication for desmodium. It should be taken3 x 2 capsules/day to be started 2-3 days before chemo and continued if possible for the duration of the chemo. Stop when the digestive condition is normalized.
Organic Silicon with multiple properties is a good combination with desmodium to minimize the many side effects of cancer chemotherapy.
And the gallbladder?
The liver makes about 1 liter of bile daily, which is stored in the gallbladder before being expelled into the intestine. Bile is absolutely necessary for the digestion of fats. Some people (especially if their diet is fatty) secrete a thick, muddy bile. This phenomenon can be at the origin of certain digestive discomforts which one designates under the name of "crisis of liver".
When the phenomenon is accentuated, the blister can be the seat of gallstones responsible for the crisis of hepatic colitis.
The natural treatment of liver crises will be the Cynavital at a rate of 6 capsules per day: 3 in the morning on an empty stomach and 3 in the evening at bedtime. In case of vesicular calculi, the following preparation is also carried out:
DISSOLUTION AND EVACUATION OF BILIA AND DENAL CALCULATIONS
Take a black radish the size of a fist, cut it into slices, leaving the peels on.
Add a tablespoon of flaxseed and a pinch of blackcurrant leaves.
Boil the whole thing in a liter of water and when the liquid reduces to half its original volume, pass it through a cheesecloth.
Pour into a bottle and add half a liter of brandy (40 to 45°).
Let the mixture stand for 2 to 3 days.
Take a shot glass of this solution in the morning when you get up and in the evening when you go to bed.
The treatment should continue for 20 days, be interrupted for 20 days and then resumed if necessary
