The Marie Kondo method: between Minimalism and Ethics

For several years now, and mainly thanks to the unique storage method of Marie KondoSome families discover a different way of life. Who would have thought that spring cleaning could completely change a life? Today, tidying up a house is no longer a chore but a real way of life. We tell you more!

When a home organizer takes over your home, expect to transform your daily life!

At a time when we accumulate a maximum of superfluous objects at home, from the most useless to the most futile, Marie Kondo takes us with her to a world where the magic of tidying up provides an unavoidable well-being. Indeed, the world-renowned author proves to us that her unique method is the indispensable ally to wellness at home. And who says "wellness at home" obviously speaks of personal wellness.

Besides, don't we say, "Well at home, well in mind"?

Moreover, the sparkling Marie Kondo has joined Netflix France for a reality show where she invites herself to the home of Americans to tidy up their interior.

Marie Kondo's method for learning to declutter

At first glance, only the term "de-cluttering" could scare us or make us procrastinate. And yet, when we begin aprocess of sorting in our home, we are invaded by a growing and positive impulse: no more clutter, goodbye accumulation, bye bye overflow. Marie Kondo, Home Organiser, invites us to start our sorting with the clothing.

Take all your clothes without exception (outfits, scarves, underwear, scarves, etc.) and make a mountain out of it on your bed.

Usually, at this point, a first awareness comes in. Often, we are angry at ourselves for having accumulated so many clothes, some of them still with a label and others that we had forgotten existed. Why have so many clothes? Do we really need it? Did we buy compulsively? Why do we consume so much?

Take each piece of fabric, one at a time, and let an emotion wash over you. "Does this garment make me happy? Does it bring me joy?"If nothing happens, then perhaps it is not essential to keep this garment.

In our world where possession defines human beings, associating an emotion with an object is not a routine embedded in our culture. From then on, a deep and inner work must be engaged personally to succeed in this essential step of de-cluttering. Also, getting to know yourself to discover this inner joy is essential. Indeed, the magic of tidying up takes part in our personal evolution.

With each garment kept, keep it with awarenessbecause it will be truly useful to your life.

Avoid throwing away items you no longer need and give them a second life instead.

The Marie Kondo method: a form of minimalism?

Do we become absolutely minimalist when we are interested in themethod of Marie Kondo? Minimalism that imposes to live in a white, uncluttered and almost empty place of life is not at all the objective of the KonMarie method. Moreover, the Japanese woman brings a particular attachment to each object of the daily life, something unthinkable in minimalism that lives a more detached relationship to the material side. In Japanese culture, every object has a soul that must be cared for.

From then on, by applying this method of organization, we bring more awareness to our possessions, to our needs but also to the value of each object. Also, we engage in a more responsible work with our possessions.

This new way of organizing our habitat also transforms us, it allows us an awareness about the earth, the responsibility we have in terms of possession but also in terms of planetary pollution.

With Marie Kondo's method, we necessarily engage in a process that pushes us to consume less, consume better, consume differently: zero waste, ethical, green, responsible and often even organic.

In 2019, think ethical and conscious!
