The essential oil of Italian Helichrysum, a precious essence

Better known as Immortelle, Italian Helichrysum italicum has highly fragrant flowers reminiscent of those of the daisy. There are many varieties of helichrysum, but only the Mediterranean species is used to make essential oils. It is extracted from the yellow flowers of the immortelle plant by steam distillation. Active ingredients of Italian Helichrysum EO

  • Terpene esters: neryl acetate (75%)

  • sesqiterpenes

  • monoterpenol

  • ketones

Properties of Immortelle EO

This essence is negativizing and anticoagulant. Above all, it is the most powerful aromatherapy and naturalanti-hematoma remedyknown. 

Added to this are the properties :

  • cholesterol-lowering

  • hepatocellular stimulant

  • anticatarrhal, mucolytic, expectorant: soothes the respiratory tract

  • antispasmodic: muscle relaxant

  • healing, desclerosing

  • anti-inflammatory 

  • anti-allergic

  • antiseptic

  • immune stimulant


Italian Helichrysum essential oil and dermatology

Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, thisessence is indicated for relieving dermatitis, acne, urticaria, rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, skin inflammations and superficial wounds. It also has the ability to stimulate healing and cell renewal in the epidermis. 

It is therefore applied diluted in a littlevegetable oil depending on your needs, e.g. black cumin oil for oily, acne-prone skin. 


Immortelle and pulmonary disorders

Diffused into the air, Italian Helichrysum essential oil relieves asthma, bronchitis, spasmodic coughs and colds. It is also a good support when the immune system tends to weaken regularly.

Diffused or diluted and massaged into the arch of children's feet. 


Helichrysum EO and muscle care

Diluted in a bath dispersant, this oil soothes muscular tension and polyarthritis. Applied as a massage with arnica vegetable oil, it relieves sprains, sore muscles, rheumatism, etc... It is also recognized as THE remedy that resorbs even old hematomas. 

It's the essential oil to have in your medicine cabinet, especially if you have stunt kids who tend to bruise everywhere.

Before concluding with Italian Helichrysum essential oil, I'd like to remind you of a few precautions concerning all essential oils usedin self-medication. 

  1. Essential oils arephotosensitizing, which means you should avoid exposing any part of your body to the sun.

  2. The essentialoil presentedhere is contraindicated in cases of pregnancy, breastfeeding, allergy and in children under 7 years of age, unless otherwise advised by your doctor, pharmacist or natural health practitioner (naturopath, certifiedaromatherapist).
