CBD: benefits and use

CBD or cannabidiol a phyto cannabinoid found in cannabis. This molecule is of interest to researchers who find in it an interesting therapeutic potential to treat many health disorders such as pain, anxiety, depression and sleep disorders. Zoom in on the benefits of CBD.

CBD ou THC : la différence

CBD and THCare naturally occurring molecules in hemp. They are called cannabinoids because they act on the body's receptors.

Unlike THC, CBD does not cause the characteristic high of cannabis. In natural medicine, all eyes are on CBD as the molecule with health and wellness benefits.

The THC on the other hand, is a strong psychotropic drug that acts on the cognitive sphere by altering the neuronal functions of memory, learning, attention, reflection etc... and also being able to trigger in fragile and predisposed people phenomena of neurotic or psychotic psychic decompensation.

However, it has been noted that CBD alone did not work as well as when combined with THC. This is called the entourage effect i.e. it is the whole plant, the synergy of all the elements composing it that gives it its therapeutic properties.

Thus, to avoid unwanted side effects, plants have been modified to have an appropriate CBD/THC ratio.

Les essais clinique du CBD

It's important to note that, despite the popular hype around CBD, this molecule has been studied very little in humans. Almost all scientific studies have been conducted on mice whose responses cannot be compared to human functioning.

In order to truly study CBD, French hospitals are testing medicinal cannabis torelieve painon 3,000 patient volunteers since March 31, 2021 over 2 years.

This experimentation concerns patients with multiple sclerosis, neurological disorders, epilepsy and those in palliative care.

It is important to understand thattherapeutic cannabis does not cure, it relieves pain. It is a symptomatic remedy.

Les propriétés et les vertus du CBD chez l'homme

  • Soulager l'anxiété

The CBD acts on certain neuroreceptors thus allowing calming different forms of anxiety such as GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), social anxiety, PTS (post-traumatic stress disorder), OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder)... Its anxiolytic action can also be used to accompany sleep disorders and difficulties falling asleep (insomnia).

  • Algies chroniques et inflammations

Chronic pain and inflammation go hand in hand. CBD would relieve chronic pain in patients for whom first-line painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs either don't work or cause more side effects than they relieve.

Rheumatism, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease...

  • Epilepsie

In the clinical study cohort that is currently taking place in France, there are patients suffering from epilepsy. Indeed, it would seem that the CBD would have anti-seizure virtues. It is already being proposed as an adjunct to standard anti-epileptic treatments.

  • Alzheimer

Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disease linked to chronic inflammation and oxidative stress. It turns out that CBD would mitigate the harm of oxidation while protecting neurons from degeneration.

  • Cancer

It appears that CBD has antitumor virtues by blocking the creation of new blood vessels feeding cancer cells. The hemp would thus be of interest in preventing cancer progression and metastasis development.

L'huile de CBD

CBD oilis legal in France as long as the THC level does not exceed 0.2%.

To take advantage of its natural properties, it can be found in the form of oil or electronic cigarette. The most common being the first one.

CBD oil is consumed directly by pouring a few drops under the tongue and holding them in the mouth for a few moments before swallowing.

Another possibility is to pour a few drops on a food such as a piece of bread, spoon of rice or compote.

The dosage varies according to the CBD concentration of your oil and your condition. Nevertheless, it is recommended to start with 1 to 2 drops twice a day, or to follow the instructions given by the laboratory.

Contre-indications

The CBD is not recommended for pregnant and/or breastfeeding women, children and people with liver disorders.

Moreover, any self-medication is to be avoided, especially if you are under any kind of treatment. Please ask your doctor, pharmacist or a naturopathic doctor who is competent in this area.
