How to use eggshell powder
Eggshell powder can be used as a 100% natural calcium food supplement, in medicinal preparations, as a cosmetic ingredient or as a face and body powder, for household or garden use.
The calcium in eggshell is in the form of bicarbonate, and combined with other minerals and trace elements in small quantities. As a result, it is highly bioavailable, and its efficacy has been demonstrated in various studies. In practice, when supplementing calcium, it is also important to ensure adequate magnesium intake.
How is eggshell powder produced?
The shells are washed and rinsed under running water, dried, disinfected (steamed at 120°C) and ground.
How is eggshell powder used?
- As a calcium supplement: You can add a little eggshell powder to your cooking, or take an eggshell/lemon preparation in the morning on an empty stomach (a teaspoonful of powder in a glass with the juice of half a lemon, leave overnight in the fridge, drink as is or mixed with water). And don't forget to get regular (but not excessive) exposure to the sun, as vitamin D, activated by the sun's rays on the skin, plays an important role in calcium assimilation. Excessive calcium intake can lead to hypercalcemia. Do not exceed 40g of eggshell powder per day.
- To strengthen nails: mix half a tablespoon of eggshell powder in a clear nail polish and apply 3 times a week, or more if necessary.
- Rejuvenating mask: mix egg powder with egg white, spread over face and leave to dry before gently washing face with water.
- Stubbornly stained utensils: clean with a mixture of eggshell powder and vinegar.
- To balance garden soil: sprinkle with eggshell powder.
