Fireweed Epilobium parviflorum is a dried and cut medicinal plant for herbal teas to treat disorders of the prostate, bladder, kidneys and digestive tract. Tolerance is excellent, and few patients complain of side effects.
Fireweed is prescribed for the treatment of prostate enlargement or adenoma (also known as benign hypertrophy or benign hyperplasia) and urinary problems. It reduces the number of nocturnal micturitions, and improves the strength and flow of the urinary stream. It acts against prostate inflammation and is also said to have an anti-cancer effect (Maria Treben). It has been noted that some prostate patients respond better to treatment with Stinging Nettle, cut root - organic.
Stinging nettle contains mucilage, making it useful as an emollient and astringent for diarrhea, urinary tract infections and respiratory tract disorders. The tea can also be used as a gargle to relieve inflammation of the mouth and throat.
For a long time, small-flowered willowherb remained largely unknown as a medicinal plant, until Maria Treben publicized its healing power for prostate problems. Since her books, it has become a very popular plant, and science has begun to study the beneficial effects of different willowherb varieties for human beings.

Directions for useIn
herbal tea form, infuse 2 times a day. Pour a cup (1/4 liter) of boiling water over a teaspoonful of small fireweed, infuse rapidly (1 to 2 minutes for chopped dried plants) and drink 2 cups a day: one in the morning on an empty stomach and the second half an hour before the evening meal.Depending on the ailment to be treated, dried plants can be used more or less frequently in one or more of the following forms: infusion or decoction, with or without pre-soaking, mother tincture, dietary supplement, etc. Each plant and/or ailment has its own specific characteristics, and one person often suffers from several ailments. It's the whole picture that's best taken into account when choosing one or other plant and preparation. We therefore advise you to follow your therapist's instructions, or to read up on existing literature.
