DavertWhole rice, short grain - organic
This whole short grain rice is only cleaned and hulled so that it still contains its germ, its fine grey pellicle and all its fibres, vitamins and minerals. This type of rice is also called brown rice. Cooked grains are soft and cling lightly together (less if cooked for less time). They are perfect for risottos and sushis. But these beige-brown, round grains of rice with aromatic taste are also an ideal accompaniment to all vegetables, meat or fish dishes.
Organic whole rice is easily digestible and important for our health. Its grain, washed, hulled, but not polished, has retained all its vitamins, minerals, proteins, micronutrients and fibers. Research has schown its anti-cancer, anti-diabetic and cardiovascular disease protecting potential. It is interesting for diabetics and sportsmen because it contains soluble fibers which slow the increase in blood sugar by releasing glucose gradually. Its cooking water can be helpful in relieving diarrhoea and as it contains no gluten, it is also a grain of choice for people with celiac disease.
As a wholegrain rice this round rice requires a cooking time of about 40 minutes.
