Autumn detox: adopt the grape monodiet!

Every year, in September-October, the grapes appear in the stalls. Did you know that it is a health food? Find out how to get all the benefits with the grape monodiet!

The monodiet, what is it about?

The mono-diet is a specific diet of short duration and widespread in the naturopathic world. It is the perfect alternative to fasting which can put some people off because it is too "aggressive" for the body.

Basically, the monodiet consists of eating one food in unlimited quantities during a single meal, a day, over several days or as recommended by your naturopath.

The grape monodiet in practice:

  • Eat only organic grapes in unlimited quantities and according to your appetite.
  • You can eat them raw or in homemade juices.
  • The cure lasts from 1 day to 1 week or as recommended by your naturopath.
  • Drink a lot of water and prepare unsweetened infusions to complete the detox.

Depending on the variety of grape, the skin will be eaten and the seeds crunched. In fact, it is in the skin and seeds that you find the flavonoids which are anti-oxidants very interesting.

Grape monodiet, the ideal fall detox

The grape monodiet helps with the purification of your emunctories. These are the exit doors for the toxins. Liver, intestine, skin, lung and kidney are thus stimulated to purify the blood and evacuate various wastes (metabolic or chemical).

Grapes are rich in water and potassium, which facilitates drainage.

The effects of the grape monodiet

On the digestive system

By eating only one food, the monodiet considerably eases digestion while deeply cleansing the intestines thanks to the fiber that grapes contain.

On morale

The digestion being lighter, the mind is also lighter. The grape monodiet helps improve your focus and concentration. You may also feel a boost of energy following your monodiet thanks to its remineralizing power. Indeed, grapes are rich in vitamins, minerals and trace elements such as phosphorus, iron, magnesium, potassium and calcium.

On the skin

Skin problems are improved. Acne pimples disappear and the skin texture is refined.

On sleep

The curists report a better fall asleep and a more restful sleep.

On weight loss

The digestive system being at rest, the energy necessary for the functioning of the body is directly drawn from the stored reserves. This results in a slight weight loss. Grapes are diuretic, so they relieve problems related to water retention such as swollen legs and ankles.

The 3-day cure, a good compromise to start

It is formally not recommended to do any mono diet if, physically and mentally you do not feel ready.

In addition, one of the most important recommendations is not to jump into the adventure overnight! This treatment should be brought in gradually as follows:

  • D-3: cut out animal fats and proteins
  • D-2: eliminate grains and starches
  • D-1: eat raw or lightly cooked fruits and vegetables.

Once the cure is over, gradually return to a balanced diet in the opposite direction to the way you started the cure:

  • D+1: eat raw or lightly cooked fruits and vegetables,
  • D+2: reintroduction of cereals and legumes,
  • D+3: add fat and animal proteins.

Alternative to the 3-day cure.

If you can't do the mono diet on 3 consecutive days, it is possible to do only 1 day or only one meal several times a week. Your naturopath will know how to best advise you according to your needs, your temperament and your motivation.

Grape Monodiet and Healing Crisis

Depending on the state of your internal "clogging", some discomfort may be felt during the first days of a monodiet. Most commonly, you find nausea, pimples and headaches. Don't panic, it's the elimination process that's underway!

Special cases and contraindications

Because grapes are rich in carbohydrates, people with insulin-dependent diabetes are not advised to follow this treatment. It is the same for anyone under treatment as well as for pregnant women, breastfeeding or during their menstruation ("detox" already in progress) and young children.

The grape monodiet is generally pleasant to do. Grapes are often highly anticipated and their fresh, watery flavor quenches thirst while providing satiety. All you have to do is try it!
