Wearing a mask: how to prevent the appearance of pimples and irritations

Since the wearing of the mask has been made compulsory, you may have noticed the appearance of certain disgraces: pimples, irritations, itching, etc... What if it's a reactionary seborrhea? What is it and more importantly, how can it be prevented? We will explain all this in the next few lines and give you a natural anti-acne protocol to take care of your skin.

Wearing a mask and skin reaction

Reactive seborrhea is when the skin will abnormally secrete sebum to protect itself from an attack. The rubbing of the mask on your skin, the heat and humidity of breathing assault your skin which is, in this area, thinner than elsewhere. The pores eventually become clogged and inflamed.

In addition, to this is added an alteration of the skin pH and the skin microbiota thus promoting bacterial proliferation.

What to do to protect your skin under your mask

In your face routine, spray geranium hydrosol for its healing and antiseptic properties. Then wipe gently with a clean, soft cotton cloth.

Then, with your usual serum, you can add a dab of aloe vera for its repairing action and jojoba oil. This vegetable oil regulates sebum secretion. It is suitable for all skin types. If your skin is inflamed and acne-prone, black cumin oil will be perfect. Indeed, black cumin oil calms inflammation, is healing, antiseptic, antibacterial and calms sebum secretion.

Although popular belief suggests that applying vegetable oils to the face will make it fatter, this is not the case. Properly chosen, vegetable oils work miracles.

Tea tree or geranium rosa essential oil applied pure with a cotton swab only to the pimple (away from the eyes and mucous membranes) will dry it out, disinfect it and heal it quickly.

Mask and makeup

With the wearing of the mask, it is best to opt for a light makeup. Beware of foundation that doesn't let the skin breathe. Choose organic or certified cosmetics that are free of parabens and other questionable ingredients.

For a tanned complexion, you can prepare a mixture with one of the vegetable oils mentioned above with carrot vegetable oil. Beta-carotene gives it its orange color which, once applied to the skin, acts as a natural self-tanner (and is also a powerful antioxidant).

The famous clay mask. Choose green or pink depending on the condition of your skin. Green clay is more aggressive than rose.

Rethink your diet to stop getting pimples under your mask

Yes, what you put on your plate affects the quality of your skin. I would even say that your skin is indicative of your inner state. If pimples appear, your digestion isn't the best. The skin is an emunctory, that is, a purifying organ, just like the liver, intestines, kidneys, lungs and uterus. However, it is considered secondary, taking over when the liver is engorged.

So by making sure to limit (or even eliminate) certain foods, you improve the quality of your skin. Here are some general tips:

  • avoid sugars, dairy products, "bad" fats (e.g. cold cuts, fried food)

  • consume omega 3: oilseeds and seeds, cold sea fish, rapeseed oil, olive oil, flax oil...

  • prefer wholemeal flours

  • soak and cook legumes thoroughly

  • limit red meat to 2 times a week

  • Fill up on fresh, organic and seasonal fruits and vegetables, raw or slightly cooked.

  • Well hydrate throughout the day.

Plants against pimples under the mask

To accompany your dietary change, certain seasonal plants will be able to support the work of detoxification of the skinand/ or liver.

  • dandelion

  • plantain

  • rosemary

  • nettle

  • leek

  • carrot

  • black radish

  • Depuragem of the laboration HerbalGem. A synergistic complex of two buds (rosemary and juniper) and two mother tinctures (dandelion and artichoke).

To conclude

As you will have understood, taking care of your skin involves surface care but also the quality of the elimination process. By taking care of your plate and therefore your digestion, you put all the chances on your side to have a beautiful skin under your mask.
