The KonMari method: the magic of tidying up on Netflix!

Marie Kondo has become the goddess of organization and tidying up thanks to her unique and revolutionary method. She is now an expert in her field. Known worldwide through her lectures and literary works, the decluttering professional is helping many families to completely change their way of life. This, simply through their habitat.

Who wouldn't want to believe it?

Between practical methodology and personal development, Marie Kondo deploys her talent on a daily basis to lighten the lives of families: decluttering, minimalism, recycling, tidying up, sorting, and housekeeping are terms that are in the news today. Indeed, making room in one's closets is no longer a time-consuming chore but a real holistic support tool.

In a society where overconsumption has overtaken us, reconnecting with ourselves by becoming aware of our accumulation is Marie Kondo's successful mission!

Marie Kondo's method: finally on our screens!

Books, conferences, sharing groups on networks, specialized blogs or even face-to-face workshops, Marie Kondo's method has crossed borders to reach our Western lives. "The Magic of Tidying Up," her 2016 book published by Pocket Editions, which has sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide, has been read by a multitude of (mostly) women in search of happiness and well-being at home.

Today, the method has joined the giant Netflix by offering us a first translated series of 8 episodes never seen before in France.

The KonMari method: a before and after

We are made to dream of happiness and change of life. Indeed, with the KonMari method, there is a before and an after. But what is it really?

Watching the different episodes of the tidying expert's series allows us to understand how this method can totally change a life. We discover throughout the episodes different families, of all types, genres or backgrounds, who see themselves growing over the weeks thanks to Marie Kondo's unique method. Very quickly, we discover a serenity settling in, a joy entering the homes and positive growth in the personal developments of these families as they evolve along with their homes.

De-cluttering your home to lighten your life

Through the various episodes, Marie Kondo patiently, wisely and kindly explains the ideal path to caring for your home. In her life principle, she no longer considers tidying up or cleaning as chores but rather as tools to grow to self and evolve.

From then on, by opting for a minimalist view, we lighten our life, our mind, our thoughts. Marie Kondo allows us to really understand the value of objects. Do we really need everything we own? Are these objects useful? Do they bring joy and happiness? So many previously unknown questions in our thought process.

Little by little, voluntary simplicity settles in the heart of each person for a better daily well-being.

Each family in the program followed a similar process throughout with the KonMari method. According to this program, a decluttering of the house is advised not by room but by category of objects:

  • Clothing and shoes for the whole family.
  • Books.
  • Papers: administrative documents (invoices, estimates, insurance contracts), legal letters, correspondence, leaflets, business cards, etc.
  • Miscellaneous items: from sports equipment to CD's, from dishes to make-up, from tools to medicines, etc.
  • Sentimental': memorabilia, photos, guest books, gifts, etc.

The observation through the various episodes is that this way of proceeding is very effective and positive in the long run. At the same time, this work requires a huge investment in time and energy but also in the emotional axis.

Although the series comes very close to a reality show where we nonetheless intrude into the lives of others, it does provide awareness and personal enrichment on good practices to adopt. On a personal note, at the end of the first season, I began a comprehensive process to declutter my home in 2019 and find thebalance !

Successful operation!
