Two homemade toothpastes that are much better than commercial ones

It is possible and easy to concoct your own toothpaste and, in doing so, avoid the harmful effects of commercial toothpastes. Coconut oil is a great ingredient to include in your recipes. The research found that enzyme-treated coconut oil strongly inhibits the growth of most strains of Streptococcus bacteria, including Streptococcus mutans, a bacterium that plays a major role in the development of tooth decay.

According to Dr. Damien Brady:

"Incorporating enzyme-treated coconut oil into dental hygiene products would be an attractive option over chemical additives, especially since it works at relatively low concentrations. Furthermore, with increasing antibiotic resistance, it is important that we look at new ways to fight microbial infection. "

Here are two easy recipes to make at home

Homemade toothpaste with peppermint and coconut oil

coconut

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of green clay

Preparation:

  1. Pour the clay and salt into a bowl.
  2. Add water and mix well.
  3. Add remaining ingredients.
  4. Mix again: the ingredients should form a paste.
  5. Store the mixture in a container with a lid.

Use:

Put some of this preparation on your toothbrush. Moisten the paste by running your brush under water. Brush your teeth as usual.
